March 2

I took a shower before heading down to breakfast for an extra little “wake me up”. I went down to the cafeteria, had a café cortado and was off to class. The have just finished construction in Plaza de la Virgen (a big plaza right near us that is lined with the basilica and Micalet) and it looks beautiful. In class, Diego and Taylor had a presentation; we had a small exercise on their presentation and got out about thirty minutes early. In culture class, Maria was sick and couldn’t make it but our sub, Adrian, was really funny. We went over more of our Scavenger hunt that we turned in last week and called it a class.

When I got back from class, I finished up reading La Casa de Bernarda Alba and felt really good about my grasp on the text, I jotted a few of my ideas down before lunch started. After lunch, I went to Cava del Negret, had a cup of café con leche and started typing the bulk of my paper. I stayed there for about three hours.

When I got back, I posted my blog and met down in the lobby to go to a touring Picasso exhibit called El taller de Californie. It isn’t very well known, but I really enjoyed just seeing works by Picasso. While we were there, a lady tried to brush past Scott and take his wallet. The security guard tried to escort her, but they had a big game of cat and mouse before she was finally caught. With Fallas beginning next week, we have seen a lot more “wanderers” and strange looking people start showing up.

When I got back, I worked some more on my paper before I went with Ashley, Caroline and Laura to our favorite spot, Escalones de la Lonja (we call it Tasca though). I had a carijillo de Baileys that always tastes so good. We left just past 8:00 and went straight to dinner. There were chicken nuggets tonight, so I made a chicken and fry sandwich. They didn’t have any orange soda, which was pretty disappointing, so I settled for a coke (which is no where near as good as it is back in the States).

After dinner, I just relaxed in my room. I skyped Laura for a good bit; we went over what she need to pack for her trip. At around 11:30 I got in bed and picked up Shutter Island for a little reading. I’m liking the book more and more. I put it down at 12:30 and decided it was time to go to sleep for the night.

** These are still Barcelona pictures.
